What Claude is Doing Today and What Copilot Will Do Next

Claude is making a serious play.

Not just to be the AI you chat with. To be the interface where you work. Where you start a task, finish it, and never need to jump between tools.

That's a big claim. So let me show you what it actually looks like.

It's not just "chat" anymore

Here’s a signal: Claude now has interactive components for specific tasks, where I can complete the task end to end without leaving Claude.

Three examples that I show in the video:

A follow-up email from a 100-person session: I show Cladue a PDF with some data. I ask it to write a summary in an email, It suggests three draft versions (warm, sharp, conversational), editable in place, sendable without leaving Claude.

A three-day trip itinerary: a map component shows up on the screen, wwhere I can navigable by day, with "open in Google Maps" built right in, or copy the itinerary.

A recipe that becomes a cooking guide: adjust servings, switch to metric, tick off steps, timers included.

In every case, Claude isn't giving me an answer to go and do something with. It's giving me a workspace to finish the job in.

Everyone is racing to the same place

This is the same destination all the major players are heading toward.

Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini. They all want to become the one interface where you work end-to-end. Email, documents, data, tasks all happening behind the scenes, and you never need to leave.

They're getting there through different paths. Plugins inside apps. Interactive components in the chat. Desktop apps like Claude Cowork. Agents running in the background.

Worth watching: as AI becomes the primary "user" of those backend systems, those systems will start to change too. Designed less for humans, more for AI to operate. That part is still emerging, but the direction is clear.

Does this mean I should switch from Copilot?

No.

For most accounting and law firms, working in regulated environments on Microsoft, Copilot remains the most likely long-term default. The security model, the tenancy structure, the existing integration: that all still holds.

And what's happening inside Copilot right now?

Microsoft has added a Claude model option inside Copilot. It's off by default, and your tenant admin needs to turn it on.

Why? Because standard Copilot keeps processing within the Microsoft environment.

When you bring Claude in, data goes to Anthropic, even with safeguards in place, and admins want oversight of that. Fair enough.

And Microsoft has just announced Copilot Cowork, developed in close collaboration with Anthropic. Local device interaction, multi-step tasks, working across apps and files.

Sound familiar? That's Claude Cowork-style capability coming to your Microsoft environment.

That's Microsoft's pattern. Claude pushes the frontier. Copilot absorbs the best ideas and ships them with enterprise guardrails.

So if you're on Copilot: you're not missing out. You're watching what's coming next.

What to do with this

Get familiar with Claude. Not necessarily to roll it out across your firm. To understand where your tools are heading.

The interactive components are the signal. They reduce friction, reduce switching, and pull work into one place. That's the direction everyone is moving.

If you want to explore what this looks like in practice, with guardrails and a clear focus on what's useful for professional services, there are workshops and intensives coming up at inbal.com.au/events.
