AI Image Magic That Touches the Heart
Today we have something that is a little less directly work-related, but still, we should all be aware of. It’s about where AI image generation and image editing are at right now.
Introducing Nano Banana (what a great name!)
Google has released its latest image generation model called Nano Banana.
It’s free, it’s fast, and it’s amazing at keeping people and details consistent in generated images.
One of the big challenges with AI image generation has always been inconsistency. It's great at making new images, less so preserving the details of existing ones. Objects relocate, people become slightly different versions of themselves.
Well, until now.
Nano Banana has overcome these challenges almost entirely.
Trying It Out
To get started, go to aistudio.google.com. It’s free and it’s from Google, so relatively trustworthy.
In the model selection on the side panel, make sure to choose Nano Banana, also called Gemini 2.5 flash image.
You could try the recommended prompts like generating an image of a banana in a costume.
But what is really new is when you use it to edit or merge real photos.
I uploaded a photo of myself arriving at an Intuit event in Brisbane. Then I brought in an older photo of me, from when I was about 20.
I prompted the model to set these two beautiful women in a field of flowers, holding hands.
It was a real stretch for AI, because it had to preserve each person as they are and also fill in missing details. And it worked beautifully.
Adding More Magic
From there, I didn’t need to re-upload the image. I simply continued prompting.
I asked for colourful butterflies flying around. They appeared while the original image stayed intact.
Then I asked to view the scene from above.
This really touched my heart. You can do true magic with AI.
Endless Possibilities
Go try Nano Banana. There are endless ideas of what you can do with it.
Upload your photo and an image of someone else with clothes you like and ask Nano to dress you in those clothes.
Upload a photo of your room and ask to remove the clutter.
Take a photo of your cat and ask for them to be placed in a funny scene. I did this one too. It was lots of fun!
It’s easy, it’s free, and you can use it for personal memories, for your website, or to create visuals for presentations.
Just give it a go. It has become so easy, that I think that everyone should know it now.
Coming Up: Master AI in Accounting
And that event that I did with Intuit in Brisbane, where I got that photo? that was a lot of fun. So, we’re doing a few more.
We’re going to talk about AI in accounting. It’s free. You get CPD points.
We’re going to be in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and we’re going to do a virtual event starting September, ending November.
I’m going to speak about the state of AI and we will have Microsoft expert showing live demos with Copilot.
It’s going to be a lot of fun. I’d love to see you there!
