The self-driving browser. A new era begins.

Today I want to show you one of the things that we do for the first time and life will never be the same.

I can imagine a day when our children ask: Why is it called a browser? And we will explain that they used to just browse. Not do anything. And the kids will ask: Really? What was that good for?

This era has just begun and the first major player is Comet, a browser by Perplexity, the company that makes the AI-powered search and answer engine also called Perplexity.

The Magic of Comet

Comet is a new browser with an AI assistant built-in. But that alone isn’t enough to impress.

The magic of Comet is that it doesn’t just summarise webpages, it can interact with them.

In the video, I show how this works:

While staying at the Westin in Perth with an hour to spare before my flight, I asked Comet to find a scenic lookout over the city and map a route from the hotel to the lookout and then on to the airport.

Comet searched for options, recommended one, opened Google Maps, entered the destination, and generated step-by-step directions for me.

And it can also work in parallel

To test its multitasking, I opened a new tab and gave Comet another job: go to Amazon, find the book AI Magic (my book 🙂) , and add three copies to the cart.

Now both tasks were running in parallel; one building the map, the other working through Amazon.

A few moments later, the book was in the cart, the map was ready, and both tasks were complete.

Saving Time on Repetitive Work

Each week my team sends me a document with LinkedIn links where I need to reply to comments. Normally, I’d open them one by one.

With Comet, I just say: “Go through all the highlighted links and open each in a new tab.” It does exactly that, tab by tab.

When it’s done, I can ask it to group the tabs, and they’re organized neatly.

After I work through them, I tell it: “Add ‘– done’ to each row,” and it updates the document automatically.

Beyond Browsing

Comet’s uses go well beyond these use cases. I’ve asked it to:

  • Organise tabs alphabetically or group them by topic

  • Start a new Google Sheet and fill it with specific information

  • Even research super funds for a 17-year-old – opening each in a tab, grouping them, and laying out a comparison.

In short, anything I can log into, Comet can work with.

Not Perfect, But Incredible Potential

Is it perfect? Not at all. It makes silly mistakes, struggles with renaming, and sometimes pastes the wrong things. And it's slow at the moment.

But hey, it's only a few weeks old. It’s going to be amazing.

Give Comet a try and let me know what you think. Do you agree that it will be life changing or is it overhyped?

What's going on at AI with Inbal

We are running live, online group coaching sessions to adopt AI together.

Last Friday, 15 August, we had an online meetup around AI meeting assistants.

We had five presenters, all users of different apps, who love their choices and generously showed how they work and what they love (and dislike) about them, demo'ed them and answered everyone's questions.

Next Friday, 22 August, we’ll set everyone up with their AI meeting assistants and discuss policy and how it fits into your workflow.

The following week will focus on advanced workflows, advanced integrations, and advanced prompting.

No more talking about AI, we are ready to get stuff done!
